things i desire:

i usually do not desire things, but as of right now i do…

1. somewhere that can repair a harddrive that  starts, skips, then stops, but wont cost me a limb
2. a digital scale
3. a wristwatch with a stopwatch and pedometer
4. to find my dishes
5. wifi
6. a new phone so i can do banking and research on the go
7. celery…
8. good booze so i can build my fancy pants bar, so i can host fancy-pants parties, and make fancy pants cocktails.

which… is a lot more than what i would usually want… it’d be like… celery… and the harddrive.

i love you for all of your muscles from brussles posts. the next time we watch lawrence of arabia together, afterwards we should watch leigonaire, which is like… van damme playing a french boxer in the desert, with the french foreign legion. which ya’know, makes them similar by both having deserts.

“Pairing men with femininity is seen as like an insult, like you’re lowering yourself. Yet women doing masculinity - not an insult to women. I think it’s safe to say that there might even be some fear of the feminine. I’ve heard this phenomenon referred to in some circles as femmephobia. So this aversion to the feminine in marketing and products is one of the outcomes of femmephobia. Another outcome is that anytime someone who is perceived as a man is aligning with anything feminine-y - it is perceived as a direct threat to Mr. Manly Man’s masculinity. You can be aggressive, you can be intolerant, you can be hateful; but don’t dare wear a dress. Or so comes, ‘you’re a fag,’ ‘you’re a pussy,’ and the violence.” - Laci Green

intolerance and hate stem from aggression, so I feel like what this whole quote is really about is the fact that we associate masculinity with aggression and the offensive side of human emotions, and that we avoid and outright detest when someone is not.  i understand that we are privileged enough in modern day society to appreciate those who can move past these very long standing gender roles, but acting like this is something out of a “fear of the feminine” seems silly to me. those stipulations on gender are rampant throughout most of the cultures (that i have studied) and within most religions. men are to be aggressive because they are expected to be providers, and those who cannot provide do not deserve to have anything worth providing for. it is only because of our modern lifestyles and the privileged nature of our societies that we can even question these subjects.

although i personally feel like what attitudes and mannerisms one aligns themselves to are their own business (within certain moral guidelines), we are still coming to terms as a culture on how we can appreciate all the aspects of people, as opposed to the classics. these conversations are important to happen  because we do need to adjust to the modern society in which we reside. it will take time since we as society are very slow to adjust.

tbh, my opinion is, if you are a man and you do something assigned to “femininity”  then as a man you can be aggressive enough to make everyone bend to you. that is the whole point of a “masculine” mindset. the mindset of being right because fuck you that’s why, while accepting the consequences and responsibilities of your actions.

men that hold actual masculinity don’t have this problem, because masculinity is defined by them.

#just look at tony’s face #fucking look at his expression #steve’s kind of just. staring #and tony’s fucking heartbroken #you can see it in his eyes. his heart? it’s broken #all over the fucking place

this to me is tony looking at a problem he can’t solve and his intellectual equal moving in a direction very similar to one he might’ve been. where steve is assessing the threat of banner, and trying to determine if this is a bluff, a cry for help, or the beginnings of a tidal wave he’d have to find a way to stop.

If I tell you I love you, I mean it. Whether we’re just friends who hang out sometimes, or we’re the envy of every set of couples we know. I feel the metaphorical human heart is big enough and tough enough that I can carve as many names as I like on it. Maybe this is why its harder for me to fall…

because you’re a boss.   <3
